We are so grateful to these survivors who so generously shared their stories for many years. Their lives will live on through the stories they have told.
“May their memories be a blessing”

Maurice Blaug
1933 – 2021
Maurice was a first-generation Holocaust survivor and a founding member of The Holocaust Story Project. He was raised in Holland. Much of his family died in Sobibor.
Trapped escaping to the south of France with his father, he was smuggled to Casablanca, then flew to neutral Portugal.
In the fall of 1940, he went to New York from Greece. His family was detained on Ellis Island for 3 months as undocumented aliens.
Maurice touched many hearts with the gripping story of how he and his father fled from one country to another till they managed to find their safe haven in North America. The world is better for his contributions and enormous heart.

Olga Winkler
1926 – 2021
Olga was a first-generation Holocaust survivor and a founding member of The Holocaust Story Project.
From Hungary until 1940, Olga became a “Hidden Child.” As a speaker, she told the story of life in a fear-dominated culture and the fate of Jewish victims of the Nazis in 1938. She faced obstacles in learning English and become an American.
Olga touched countless students and teachers with her story, speaking on topics such as managing fear, family stresses, “growing up” too soon, and difficulties adapting to a new way of life. Her impact on the community was profound and immeasurable.
